Return Policy & Puppy Placement Commitment

At LA Cobber Dogs, our puppies are raised with the goal of becoming beloved lifelong companions. We carefully consider each placement because we want every puppy to be matched with a family that is prepared for the responsibility, commitment, and joy of bringing a dog into their home.

We understand that, in rare and unfortunate circumstances, a family may find that they are unable to continue caring for their dog. Our priority is always the safety and well-being of our puppies, both during their time with us and throughout their lives.

First Right of Return

If, at any point during your dog’s lifetime, your family is unable to keep your dog, LA Cobber Dogs requires the first right of return.

This means that the dog must be returned to us rather than being rehomed privately, surrendered to a rescue organization, or placed in a shelter. We make this requirement because we have a lifelong commitment to the puppies we produce and want to ensure that every dog remains in a safe, suitable, and loving environment.

If circumstances arise where you can no longer keep your dog, please contact us as soon as possible. We will work with your family to determine the best next steps and help ensure your dog’s continued care and well-being.

Health & Genetic Guarantee

Cobberdogs are generally a healthy breed, and all of our breeding dogs undergo DNA testing for the genetic conditions currently known within the breed. While responsible breeding and health testing can greatly reduce risks, no breeder can guarantee that a dog will never develop an illness or health condition.

LA Cobber Dogs stands behind the health of our puppies. If a documented, known genetic condition is diagnosed within the first two years of your puppy’s life, we will work with your family to determine an appropriate resolution. Depending on the circumstances and your family’s preference, this may include either a partial refund or the opportunity to receive a replacement puppy.

This guarantee applies only to confirmed hereditary or genetic conditions and does not cover general illnesses, injuries, accidents, or conditions related to routine care and ownership.

Owner Responsibilities & Routine Care

Once your puppy joins your family, you become responsible for providing the care needed to help your dog thrive. This includes proper nutrition, veterinary care, vaccinations, grooming, exercise, training, and a safe living environment.

Like people, dogs can experience illnesses or health challenges through no fault of anyone involved. Not every condition can be predicted, prevented, or attributed to genetics. General health issues, injuries, behavioral concerns, and conditions resulting from care, environment, feeding, exercise, grooming, or other day-to-day factors are the responsibility of the owner.

Training, Exercise & Lifelong Commitment

Cobberdogs are known for being affectionate, intelligent, loyal, and eager to connect with their families. However, they are still dogs with their own needs, personalities, and energy levels.

Excellent breeding provides a strong foundation, but it does not replace the need for consistent training, socialization, structure, and daily exercise. We strongly encourage every family to establish a training plan, work with a qualified puppy trainer or training program, and provide regular physical and mental enrichment.

A well-trained and well-exercised Cobberdog is far more likely to grow into the happy, confident, and balanced companion every family hopes for.

Our Commitment

Bringing home a puppy is a lifelong commitment, and we are dedicated to supporting our families throughout their dog’s life. We are always available to answer questions, provide guidance, and help you navigate the joys and challenges of raising your Cobberdog.

Our goal is simple: to ensure every puppy we raise is loved, cared for, and given the best possible chance at a happy life.
