Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes do you breed?
We specialize in medium and large/standard cobberdogs, with adult weights typically ranging from 30–45 lbs or 45–70 lbs.
What colors are available?
Our litters may include beautiful cream, apricot, red, chocolate, and black coats, sometimes accented with white markings.
Are your dogs hypoallergenic?
Although no dog can be guaranteed to be 100% hypoallergenic, Cobberdogs are bred for their low-shedding coats and are often well-suited for people with mild to moderate allergies. Individual sensitivities vary, so if allergies are a concern, we encourage you to spend time with cobberdogs whenever possible before making your decision.
What is the cobberdog temperament like?
Cobberdogs are affectionate, people-focused companions who love being part of the family. They are intelligent, eager to please, and highly trainable, responding best to gentle, consistent guidance. Because they form strong bonds with their families, they thrive in homes where they receive plenty of companionship and are not left alone for long periods on a regular basis.
How much grooming does a cobberdog need?
Cobberdogs have continuously growing, low-shedding coats that require regular grooming and maintenance. Plan to brush your dog several times a week and schedule professional grooming every 6–8 weeks to keep the coat healthy, comfortable, and free of mats. A quality slicker brush and a stainless steel metal comb are essential grooming tools.
How much exercise does a cobberdog need?
Cobberdogs typically thrive with 45–60 minutes of daily physical exercise, along with regular mental enrichment through training, puzzle toys, scent work, and sniff walks. While they are not generally considered high-energy or hyperactive, they are intelligent, athletic dogs that benefit from consistent physical activity and mental stimulation.
What will I need when the puppy comes home?
Before bringing your Cobberdog puppy home, you’ll want to have a few essentials ready, including a crate, high-quality puppy food, food and water bowls, a collar and leash, safe chew toys, and basic grooming supplies such as a slicker brush and a stainless steel metal comb. We’ll also send your puppy home with a selection of starter items and are happy to recommend the brands and products we’ve found to work best over the years.
What are some of the lifelong needs of a cobberdog?
Beyond love, affection, and companionship, your Cobberdog will need consistent training with clear, positive boundaries, daily exercise and mental enrichment, ongoing socialization with a variety of people, places, and other animals, regular grooming and coat care, and routine veterinary care supported by a high-quality diet. Providing these essentials will help your Cobberdog grow into a confident, healthy, and well-adjusted companion.
